Historofantasy is a core concept of the Genre Books of Alternate Worlds Publishing. It may in fact be the core concept of AWRPG. It is derived from the idea of “Historical Fantasy” fiction. In a Historofantasy setting History is modified for Fantasy use.

For instance: In our Historofantasy Japan we are taking some odd historical facts and modifying them to fit a new world view that creates a setting suitable to High Fantasy gaming. Additionally Magic and Mythic creatures are added to the setting which are not known to have been in the original historical era.
